Columbus is the capital of and the largest city in the U.S. state of Ohio. The broader metropolitan area encompasses several counties and is the third largest in Ohio behind those of Cleveland and Cincinnati. Columbus is the sixteenth largest city in the United States of America. It is the county seat of Franklin County, yet the city has expanded and annexed portions of adjoining Delaware County and Fairfield County. Named for explorer Christopher Columbus, the city was founded in 1812 at the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, and assumed the functions of state capital in 1816. The city has a diverse economy based on education, government, insurance, banking, fashion, defense, aviation, food, clothes, logistics, steel, energy, medical research, health care, hospitality, retail, and technology. Modern Columbus has emerged as a technologically sophisticated city. It is home to the world's largest private research and development foundation, the Battelle Memorial Institute; CAS, or Chemical Abstracts Service, the world's largest clearinghouse of chemical information; NetJets, the world's largest fractional ownership jet aircraft fleet; and The Ohio State University, the nation's largest campus.
Highways in Columbus:
Columbus is bisected by two major Interstate Highways, Interstate 70 running east–west, and Interstate 71 running north to roughly southwest. The two Interstates combine downtown for about 1.5 mi in an area locally known as "The Split", which is a major traffic congestion point within Columbus, especially during rush hour. U.S. Highway 40, aka National Road, runs east–west through Columbus, comprising Main Street to the east of downtown and Broad Street to the west. It is also widely recognized as the nation's first highway. U.S. Highway 23 runs roughly north–south, while U.S. Highway 33 runs northwest-to-southeast. The Interstate 270 Outerbelt encircles the vast majority of the city, while the newly redesigned Innerbelt consists of the Interstate 670 spur on the north side (which continues to the east past the Airport and to the west where it merges with I-70), State Route 315 on the west side, the I-70/71 split on the south side, and I-71 on the east. Due to its central location within Ohio and abundance of outbound roadways, nearly all of the state's destinations are within a 2-hour drive of Columbus.

"I drive to downtown Columbus for work everyday. With some of the best roads in the country, the traffic is not nearly as bad as it was in Atlanta; where I moved from. One day after work I was driving home down Interstate 71 when it started pouring down rain. This usually makes a lot of drivers skittish so I drove cautiously down the freeway. A few minutes later I get rear ended by this Chevrolet Truck. While still in shock I looked behind me and my trunk is bent upwards and the rear glass was shattered. The police and ambulance finally came; and asked me if I was ok. I said yes but my brand new BMW is destroyed. I pulled out my insurance card immediately and called in to report the accident. Once that was done I got out of my car to get the owner of the truck's insurance information. After talking with him you could obviously tell he had been drinking. The tow truck came and there went my car to some body shop the insurance company recommended.
After a few days, the insurance company called me and said your vehicle is going to be fixed; that the damages were not enough to total the car out. I was like " great, now i have a wrecked vehicle and its obviously going to be on my Carfax Report. Later that day the insurance adjuster handling my claim told me it was going to be almost $25,000 in repairs. I asked him about diminished value and he told me I had to talk with the adjuster at the claims office. So I called into my claims adjuster and she said to hire a certified auto appraiser to perform a diminished value appraisal. So after calling several companies, I hired Pinnacle Auto Appraisers. They seemed to be the only company that knew how to do the appraisal and what obstacles I might face while filing the claim. After a few weeks have gone by, I got a call from my insurance company. They said they received my appraisal and that they were going to pay almost $11,000 in diminished value. Earlier that week I went to the dealership and they said between $10-15K, so I knew Pinnacle knew what they were doing. I recommend these guys to everyone that is filing an insurance claim." ~ Chris F. Columbus, OH
